A domain extension refers to the last part of a web address. So for instance in example.com, it would be .com. This section can also be referred to as the top-level domain (TLD), and can come in forms such as:
- generic top-level domains or gTLDs (.com, .org, .net)
- country code top-level domains or ccTLDs (.ca, .fr, .au)
