How to enter raw HTML in the Joomla! editor

While Joomla’s default content editor, TinyMCE, is simple to use for basic post and page creation, any HTML code that you enter will be stripped out when you save your articles.

You can prevent this issue by temporarily disabling the TinyMCE editor.  Visit Users > Manage, select your account and click Edit.

Edit button

Click the Editor dropdown menu and select Editor – None. This disables the TinyMCE editor on your account. Save your selection.

Now head back to your post or page via the Content menu. Paste the HTML code into the editing panel.

You can now save the article.

Return to the Users > Manage menu and revert the Editor selection to TinyMCE.

If you find that your HTML code is still being stripped out of your content, you can try switching off text filtering. This setting targets specific user roles so be sure to only disable text filtering for trusted roles.

In the toolbar, select System > Global Configuration.

Global Configuration

Click the Text Filters tab. Use the Filter Type dropdown menu to select No Filtering for the user roles required. Click the Save button to proceed, then head back to the Article Editor to enter your HTML code.
