Members-only webpages are very attractive. They can contain downloadable resources for members and even members–only discounts. A members-only area also builds trust with your website visitors and makes your content appear valuable. The content you provide may include exclusive courses and professional articles.
At the end of this Knowledge Base article, we’ll list nine ways in which your website can attract more visitors!
Creating the members-only area
Using the Members Login application, you can allow registered visitors to access a restricted members–only area. As the website owner, your members-only area lets in certain members whose details are stored in a database.
You can add a Members Login element anywhere on your site, and configure which database stores your members:
- Login names.
- Email addresses.
- Passwords.
The login element also allows you to reset passwords using the emails provided. In the database, you can store an individual login and password for every user. Using the Database Editor add-on, the site owner can perform actions including:
- Editing the members database.
- Enabling/disabling memberships.
- Changing profiles.
How to create a members database
To use the Members Login application, you must create a registration form. This process will collect user details, including usernames and passwords. The form must include:
- An email field.
- A login name field, allowing users to create a username.
- A password field.
If you like, you can also add additional fields. The main purpose of your form is to send the details to a database. All of the credentials provided will be stored in the database.

If you prefer, you can manually create a database. This action is done within the Database Editor. All required details must be added as column headers.
How to configure the Members Login application
The Members Login add-on can be enabled through the left menu, just like any other application. Once enabled, it can be placed on a page in the same manner as any content element. To configure the application:
- Place the application in a convenient location.
- Hover your mouse over the application.
- Click on the edit button.

Selections
- Form Layout—Select a horizontal or vertical layout for the members’ login form.
- Users Data Source—Specify your Members database and link the:
- Usernames.
- Passwords.
- Email and Approval (optional) fields.
- Additional Options—You can define if members can be redirected to a specific page after logging in.

How to restrict access to members-only pages
You can restrict access to certain webpages using the option available in Page Settings.
How to configure the Access Control options
1. Type of access control: Select the By member group preference from the drop-down menu.
2. Select member group: Pick the name of the database where your members’ information is stored. You can also select multiple member group databases for the same page. Just hold the Ctrl key on your keyboard and click on each database individually.

Optional:
3. Select login page: If someone tries to access a restricted page before they log in, they will see a message asking them to log in. When the user clicks login, they will be taken to the Home page. The home page is used by default unless you specify a different page.

Please note: The Members Login is an application that requires an SSL Certificate installed on your domain. If you require more information or need help with your HostPapa account, please open a support ticket from your dashboard.
Nine ways to attract more website visitors
A website thrives only when it has a steady flow of visitors. Without traffic, even the most polished site struggles to achieve its goals. Fortunately, proven methods exist to consistently attract more people. By applying them strategically, your website can gain lasting visibility online.
- Firstly, perfect your site for search engines using Search Engine Optimization (SEO). This process begins with keyword research and natural placement within your content and pages. Focus on adjusting titles, descriptions, and alt text for better search rankings. Higher visibility in search results leads to higher visitor numbers.
- Secondly, create high-quality and engaging content that addresses your audience’s questions. Visitors gravitate toward websites that provide valuable, clear, and actionable information. Blog posts, guides, and tutorials can all serve as appealing formats. Good content can educate, encourage return visits, and foster brand trust.
- Thirdly, embrace the power of social media as a promotional tool. Sharing your content on popular platforms increases reach and visibility. Strong visuals, relevant hashtags, and interactive posts boost the chances of real engagement. A steady social presence helps drive consistent traffic back to your site.
- Additionally, build an email list and use newsletters to reach your readers. Loyal subscribers appreciate receiving useful and personalized updates in their inbox. Share your latest articles, promotions, or exclusive offers through targeted email campaigns. With attention-grabbing subject lines, recipients feel motivated to revisit your website.
- Next, consider incorporating guest blogging to expand your online footprint. Publishing on reputable sites quickly exposes your content to new audiences. By linking back to your site, more readers will discover your brand. This strategy increases credibility and boosts visitor traffic.
- Furthermore, contribute to online communities and forums. Answering questions and sharing insights establishes authority in your specialty. Instead of sending spam, provide genuine comments that add value to discussions. Genuine involvement will bring curious users to your website organically.
- Equally important, make sure your website runs smoothly across devices without technical issues. A fast-loading site encourages people to stay rather than leave quickly. Mobile responsiveness is a deciding factor as most users browse with handheld devices. Smoother navigation revamps the User Experience (UX) and increases revisits.
- In addition, try using paid advertising when organic methods need extra support. Platforms like Google Ads and Facebook can target specific demographics. Even a modest advertising budget can produce valuable returns in boosted traffic. Paid campaigns also provide measurable results, offering insights into visitor behavior.
- Finally, track your website performance using analytics tools like Google Analytics. Monitoring data helps identify which efforts produce the best visitor results. Learning from this information enables smarter adjustments and better long-term growth strategies. Data-driven decisions can help your site attract more visitors.
