What version of MODX does HostPapa support?
HostPapa supports MODX Revolution 2.x and MODX 3.x (the current version as of 2026). MODX 3 requires PHP 7.2 as a minimum and PHP 8.1 or higher for best performance. You can set your PHP version in cPanel.
What's the difference between MODX Revolution and MODX Evolution?
MODX Revolution is the current branch of MODX, rebuilt from scratch in modern object-oriented PHP for better performance, security, and scalability. MODX Evolution is a legacy version that's no longer actively developed. If you're starting a new site, use MODX Revolution (now simply called MODX 3).
How do I install MODX on HostPapa?
Log in to cPanel, open Softaculous Apps Installer, find MODX in the Portal/CMS category, and click Install. Fill in your site name and admin credentials, then click Install again. The whole process takes less than two minutes.
