Length classes allow you to define units of measurement in AbanteCart. These units are specifically used in product options, for sizing or for parcel dimensions when shipping.
By default, AbanteCart uses centimeters as the measurement unit, but it is possible to change it.
You can set your new default in the System > Settings > Store Details tab. Scroll down to the Length Class dropdown menu and select your desired unit of measurement. Choose either Centimeter, Millimeter or Inch.
Click the Save button to complete configuration.
Add a new length class
If you wish to add a new length class, you can do so from System > Localization > Length Classes.
All length classes are linked to the base class (in this example, centimeter). In the Value column, you can see that Centimeter is set to 1.00000000, while the Millimeter value is set to 10.00000000 (as 10mm equals 1cm).
Click the Add (+) button to create your new length class.
- Length Title: Name of the measure.
- Length Unit: Abbreviation for the measure.
- Value: Set to 1.00000 if this is your base length, or a value that is proportionate to your base length. For example, if you were configuring a meter length class the value would be 0.01.
Note that if you change the base value, you will need to modify all other length classes to be proportional to the new base.
Click Save to add the new class.
