Express.js Hosting for Fast, Reliable APIs
Host your Express.js APIs and web apps on a HostPapa VPS. Run your server with PM2 in cluster mode, put Nginx in front for HTTPS, and get dedicated CPU, RAM, and NVMe storage so response times stay steady as traffic grows.Plans as low as $2.95 per month2

Express.js Hosting Explained
What Is Express.js Hosting?
Express is the minimal, widely used web framework for Node.js. It gives you routing, middleware, and request and response helpers, which makes it a common choice for REST APIs, authentication services, back ends for single-page apps, and server-rendered sites.
An Express app is a Node.js process that listens on a port and keeps running between requests. Hosting it well means installing the Node.js version you need, supervising the process so it restarts automatically, and placing a reverse proxy in front for HTTPS, compression, and static files.
A HostPapa VPS gives you the root access and dedicated resources to set that up properly and scale it as your API grows.
Why Choose HostPapa
A Reliable Home for Your Express.js API
An API is only as dependable as the server it runs on. HostPapa VPS plans give your Express app dedicated resources, the control to configure it your way, and support around the clock.

How to Deploy an Express.js App on a HostPapa VPS
Getting an Express app into production takes six steps, and most of them are one-time setup you won't need to repeat.
Step 1: Install Node.js. Connect over SSH and install a current LTS release of Node.js with nvm or NodeSource packages.
Step 2: Install dependencies. Clone your repository and run npm ci --omit=dev so the server gets the exact production dependencies from your lockfile.
Step 3: Read the port from the environment. Have your app listen on process.env.PORT, and set app.set('trust proxy', 1) so Express reads the real client IP and protocol from Nginx.
Step 4: Run it with PM2. Start the app with pm2 start app.js -i max to run one process per CPU core, then pm2 startup and pm2 save so it survives reboots.
Step 5: Put Nginx in front. Configure Nginx as a reverse proxy that listens on ports 80 and 443 and forwards requests to your app's local port, such as 127.0.0.1:3000. Your app never has to run as root or bind to a public port.
Step 6: Add HTTPS. Point your domain's DNS at the VPS, then use Certbot to issue a free Let's Encrypt certificate for Nginx and set it to renew automatically.

Pick the Right Environment
Which Plan Fits Your Express.js Project?
Choose an Unmanaged VPS if you want full control over Node.js, PM2, Nginx, and firewall settings.
Choose a Managed VPS if you'd rather have our server administrators handle operating system patches, updates, and migration help.
Choose a dedicated server if your API handles heavy production traffic or you need full hardware isolation for compliance.

Do I need a VPS to host an Express.js app?
For production, yes. Express runs as a long-lived Node.js process that needs its own port, a process manager, and steady memory. A VPS gives you root access and dedicated resources to run it reliably.
How do I keep my Express app running after a crash or reboot?
Use PM2 or a systemd service. PM2 restarts crashed processes automatically, and pm2 startup registers it to start again when the server reboots.
Why should Express run behind Nginx?
Nginx handles HTTPS, compression, and static files efficiently, and it lets your app run on a local port without root privileges. Set trust proxy in Express so it reads client details correctly.
Which databases can I use with Express?
Any database your code supports. On a VPS you can install PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, or Redis next to your app, or connect to a managed database elsewhere.
Can I use all my CPU cores?
Yes. Node.js runs on one core per process, so PM2's cluster mode (-i max) starts one process per core and balances requests across them.
Does HostPapa offer a money-back guarantee?
Yes. Every plan is backed by a 30-day money-back guarantee, so you can deploy your Express app and test performance risk-free.
