Deprecation of Gmailify and POP in Gmail

Google has announced that it’s retiring the Gmailify and POP fetching features within the personal Gmail interface. If you currently use Gmail to manage your HostPapa email (such as cPanel or PapaMail accounts), this update will affect how you receive your messages.

What’s changing?

Previously, Google allowed users to fetch emails from external providers, such as HostPapa, into their personal Gmail inboxes using POP3. Starting in January 2026, Google will no longer support these connections.

How this impacts you

  • Stopped syncing: New emails sent to your HostPapa address will stop appearing in your Gmail inbox once the feature is fully retired.
  • No new setups: You’ll no longer be able to link new HostPapa mailboxes to Gmail using the mail fetcher or Gmailify tools.
  • Account safety: Your emails are not being deleted; they will simply no longer be pulled into the Gmail interface.

How to stay connected

Important

To ensure you don’t miss any important correspondence, we recommend transitioning to one of the following reliable alternatives before the January deadline:

Recommended ActionDescription
1. Email client (IMAP)Set up your email in a dedicated app like Outlook, Apple Mail, or Thunderbird.
2. PapaMail/cPanel webmailAccess your mail directly through your browser at https://mail.papamail.net/ or for cPanel: https://yourdomain.com/webmail.
3. Email forwardingSet up a forwarding rule in your PapaMail settings or cPanel > Forwarding to send a copy of incoming mail to your Gmail.

Please note

We strongly recommend using IMAP settings over POP3 for the best experience across multiple devices.
